Where is Uluru/Ayers Rock?

Uluru is a long way from everywhere else in Australia.

You can see it’s right in the middle of the continent (remember, Australia is about the same size as the United States, not including Alaska).

So if you’re driving to Ayers Rock from Sydney, it will take you about 3 days. The distance is a whopping 2954 kilometres (1836 miles)!

The message here is: make sure you allow enough time.

A 3 day visit to Australia is simply not enough time to see the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, Melbourne and Ayers Rock all in one go.

Ayers Rock Resort

Ayers Rock Resort is located in the township of Yulara, approximately 18 km away from Uluru.

Although it’s not very big, there’s quite a lot of shops, restaurants, bars and not-so-well-known places around the resort (like Tali’s Bar) where you can escape the crowds.
