Most Australians have heard of the annual Postie Bike Challenges held at various places around the country.

If you’re from overseas, and you’re wondering ‘What’s a Postie Bike?’ – here’s a translation: Postman/Postwoman’s motorbike, usually a bright red Honda CT110 that’s ex-Australia post – like the one pictured above.

Yes, we know riding a postie bike across the Gibb River Road or the Simpson Desert isn’t everyone’s adventure – but it does look like a lot of fun.  (Amanda is already scheming about riding hers on the Oodnadatta Track…)

This short clip is worth watching for its 1960s cinematography and soundtrack. Oh yeah… they don’t stick to the bitumen, either. Also contains the only postie bike burnout I’ve ever seen…

4. Apex Outback Postie Bike Ride 2011

This clip tells the story of the Apex charity Postie Bike ride which has grown from 2 people to over 80 people in ten years. The ride featured in the clip follows the 2011 riders through 1000km of AWESOME outback South Australia.
