HIGH SIERRA IMPACT BACKPACK

High Sierra Impact Backpack

Backpack anyone?

For every backpack there are just as many differing opinions as to which one does the job, feels comfortable whilst wearing and what colour it should be.

Amanda and I (the Travel Outback Australia Team) have both worked extensively in the field over many years. Amanda works as an anthropologist/archaeologist and me as a park ranger and we have probably worn out more backpacks than most people!

What sort of backpack do you need?  Obviously this will depend on the task at hand and, sometimes, how often it will be used. If you’re a hiker then something that can carry all the gear makes sense and this is when a bigger, more comfortable pack is required.

A daypack however opens up a very wide range of packs that can do the job. The differences can simply come down to the size of the person wearing them and the features the pack itself may contain.

In this case Amanda was looking for a compact day pack to carry a few essential items like a clipboard, some snacks and a water bladder. She didn’t want anything too big and she wanted it to be comfortable to wear.

After checking out the range with High Sierra they supplied her with one of their smaller products called the High Sierra Impact backpack. It’s a 23L pack made from ripstop material and even came in a red colour, handy if Amanda laid the pack down and had to find it again in the bush.

So what features does this small pack come with?

  • Large, front-load main compartment
  • Media pocket with headphone port
  • Large gusseted front pocket
  • Core organizer compartment with multiple pockets
  • Padded shoulder straps
  • Primary padded back panel
  • Mesh beverage pocket
  • Convenient grab handle

The pack fits Amanda like a glove and she has worn it on a couple of trips so far. She likes the size and it is easy to throw onto the seat when she returns to the car.

Good job High Sierra. If you’re interested in a small backpack or even a laptop backpack then take a look at High Sierra’s webpage here.
